Talk about money With Children
If you have a habit to manage finances properly, you can provide your child for other things when they grow mature.
“When you teach children about money, they also began to study various other important things,” said Brian Goh, (Senior Vice President Financial Planning Ipac Singapore).
The conditions that can be learned about money in day-to-day activities are as follows:
While at the ATM or using a Credit Card;
Your children need to know where the money comes, to appreciate the value of money. Explain that the money has been collected through the hard work must be saved to the Bank first, before it can be drawn through the ATM. while purchase using Credit Card does not mean things are free, but must be paid entirely on each end of month.
Time to give pocket money;
Giving pocket money to your child on time, for example, at the beginning of the month, with pocket money at a certain period will make your children learn and appreciate the value of money. Guide them to save some pocket money before they use the money, or buying something they want later.
When shopping;
Shopping at the mall without a calculation will give the implication; they can get whatever they want and whenever they want. For that you must teach your children about the differences between needs or desire. For example, when viewing the latest mobile phone, explain that has new mobile phone indeed exciting. However, buy a new mobile phone is not a requirement, because the mobile phone is still working well.
When planning a vacation;
Teach the several concepts at once, such as create a budget, save, compare prices and balance between needs and desires. Learning about money more easily absorbed if examplizeing in daily life; include your child in decision making process, starting from destination set, and find a holiday package offers.
